Free Tablets For Seniors – If you’re a senior who wants to get a tablet but doesn’t have the money, there are some programs that can help you. These include lifeline, food stamps, Salvation Army and some non-profit organizations.
Thousands of older New Yorkers will soon receive free tablets equipped with internet service. These devices will make it easier for seniors to stay connected and keep up with the latest news.
Affordable Connectivity Program
Almost 22 million seniors don’t have wireline broadband access in their homes. This is a real problem, and the Affordable Connectivity Program is helping bridge this digital divide.
The Affordable Connectivity Program helps low-income households afford internet service for work, school, health care and other services. It provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward an internet plan and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer or tablet from participating providers.
This program replaces the Emergency Broadband Benefit and is available to households that qualify for Lifeline.
Eligible households can choose from over 20 broadband providers offering free or discounted internet plans with download speeds up to 100Mbps. This includes Comcast’s long-standing Internet Essentials (50Mbps) and newer Internet Essentials Plus (100Mbps) programs that have no credit checks, no contracts and free equipment.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is a great way for older adults to stay connected and engaged. It also helps seniors save money on their monthly bills.
Oats are a great food for seniors because they’re high in fiber, which is good for lowering the risk of chronic disease. Oats also contain magnesium, a mineral known to boost the immune system and improve memory, plus polyphenols that help lower blood pressure and increase circulation.
Oatmeal is a nutritious breakfast that’s easy to prepare, inexpensive, and versatile. You can make it sweet or savory, hot or cold (so-called overnight oats are popular), and it’s shelf-stable so you can stock up for the week.
Oats are also rich in soluble fiber, which can help reduce cholesterol levels. Soluble fiber binds with water to form a gel-like substance that slows down digestion and keeps the stomach fuller longer. It also helps reduce bloating and can ease constipation.
Community Tech Network
Community Tech Network offers free tablets to low-income families and older adults with limited or no access to technology. They also offer digital literacy classes to help people improve their internet safety and usage skills.
CTN believes that everyone deserves to have access to the world wide web, and that it is a necessary part of a healthy and well-rounded lifestyle. This nonprofit organization aims to close the digital divide by providing digital tools and services that will empower communities to achieve their goals.
They work with partners to provide the best possible digital experience for low-income families and older adults in underserved neighborhoods. They use the latest and greatest digital technologies to promote and enhance the self-sufficiency, capacity, and quality of life of their users. They accomplish this through advocacy, direct instruction, and partnerships to provide devices. They are always on the lookout for talented individuals who can help them achieve their mission. Applicants with a passion for serving underserved populations, analytical and data-driven thinking, and the ability to think big are a must!
Churches are a special community where members come together to worship God and grow in their faith. They are also a place where churchgoers can get support from their peers.
Seniors can benefit from attending church a few times a month. It can be a great way to connect with others and meet new friends.
Moreover, the church is a place where seniors can vent their concerns to other churchgoers or talk with a pastor. They can even learn new ways to cope with life’s challenges.
A study by Pargament and colleagues found that congregational climate was associated with psychological well-being among older adults. The researchers concluded that this relationship may be due to emotional support.
